Hello from Toni: Dinosaur Christmas

Greetings, friends! I love dinosaurs and had to, absolutely had to, make a couple of dino holiday cards.

Aren't they the cutest? I kept the design CAS for both cards. I had intended to make them one layer as well but forgot to mask for the Lawn Fawn Christmas Fishes hats so fussy cut those and added later.

The blue card uses Mama Elephant Me and My Dinosaur. I liked the larger body for being able to draw in more lights and add bigger presents.  I used Copics B00, B01, B02, B04, B18, N1, R05, R08.

The second card uses Avery Elle Rawr. So cute!  It occurred to me after that I could have masked off some of his spots and drew in another light strand in its place. I used Copics G28, N1, R27, R29, R39, Y02, Y08, YG13, YG41, YG45.

I cobbled together the sentiment from Avery Elle Rawr and Lawn Fawn Merry Messages. Don't be afraid to snip your sentiment stamps to get exactly what you want!

I'll see you again soon.  If you'd like to check out my other creations in the meantime, you can visit my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, my Instagram, or my Pinterest Board.

Thanks So Much with Lawn Fawn...

Happy Wednesday everyone! I can't believe it is Thanksgiving Day tomorrow!! This month and year have been flying by. I had to create one (or two, lol) more card with a thankful theme. I used the super cute new Lovely Latte die from Lawn Fawn.

I began by die cutting all of the layers to create the cards. For both of the cards, I die-cut the base panel for the cards using the Basic Rectangles die set, the Backdrop Fall Leaves die, the marshmallows from the Stitched Mug Frame, the pumpkin from the Reveal Wheel Pick of the Patch Add-on, and the Fancy Lattice Backdrop die. For the second card, I used the Tiny Gift Box: Peacock and  Turkey Add-on

I then added color to the Backdrop Fall Leaves die cuts using Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, Victorian Velvet, Brushed Corduroy, and Antique Linen Distress Oxide inks, and Pizza Crust Lawn Fawn ink. For the sentiment on both cards I used the Fancy Wavy Banners die set, and the Wavy Sayings stamp set.

I hope you enjoy this set I created to share with you today. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. I hope you each have a wonderful and blessed day. Please feel welcome to visit me on my blogIG or Pinterest.

Hello from Toni: Mixed Media Poinsettia

Hi hi!  I was going through my stash recently and rekindled my interest in acrylic gouache (essentially a thick acrylic which allows it to be more opaque). Because of the paint's opacity, it makes it perfect for coloring on dark colors.  Talk about drama!

I stamped the Waffle Flower Poinsettia (FYI this is on clearance!!!) onto black cardstock using Versamark. The resulting lines are faint but allow you to use the stamp as a guide for painting.

You can see a bit of my process below. I fill in the basic image using one color family at a time then later go in and add shading, highlights and details.  Those added touches really transform the look.

Notes:
  • I use white with the basic colors to create my shades. The non-whitened color is the shadow then I worked my way out from there with increasing white.
  • The paint is thick and will thicken further over time.  You can add a tiny bit of water but beware of adding too much as it will affect the opacity.
  • I like the texture so don't worry too much about viscosity. I can always go back and add another layer if necessary.

To finish the card, I masked the blooms and spattered Copic Opaque white then brushed a bit of Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink on the corners.  I used my beloved Posca pen to fill in some spots. Once everything was fully dry, I embossed the Honey Bee Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays sentiment and added the Honey Bee Bitty Buzzwords: Holiday Dies.

I'll see you again soon.  If you'd like to check out my other creations in the meantime, you can visit my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, my Instagram, or my Pinterest Board.

Warm Hugs In A Mug with Mama Elephant...

Happy Wednesday everyone! I am sharing this card, tag, and bookmark set with you today. I used the adorable Hot Cocoa stamp set from Mama Elephant.

I began by coloring the images from the set using Copic markers. For the red areas, I used R11, R22, R05, R27, R46, R59, and E09. For the brown areas, I used YR23, E31, E25, E47, and E49. For the penguin, I used W7, W5, and C9.

Next, I die-cut the base panel for the card using the Basic Rectangles die set, I also used the Framed Tags Madison Avenue die set to create the scalloped frame, and the tag. To create the snowy area, I used the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border die set. The oval for the sentiment is from the Oval Scallop Frames set, and the bookmark and die-cut bows are from the Bookmark It die set.

I hope you enjoy this set I created to share with you today. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. I hope you each have a wonderful and blessed day. Please feel welcome to visit me on my blogIG or Pinterest.

Hello from Toni: Mama Elephant Globies

Hello, everyone! Are you ready for some wintery fun?! You know how I like to stretch my supplies and stretch them I did!

First up, I created a wintery shaker card using the Mama Elephant Globies Grid Cover. There are so many things you could do with these snowglobes--individual mini scenes inside (you ambitious thing, you!), matching them up with any of the Little Agenda series, etc.

I chose to creating a mega scene with a Copic airbrushed background over which I embossed the Mama Elephant Urban City stamp in white. I then created the shaker using acetate, foam tape and a variety of sequins from my stash.

I colored up the Lawn Fawn Tiny Winter Friends as well as the Lawn Fawn Scripty Bubble Sentiment with Copics.

Adding the images is where the Copic airbrushing helped--notice the blue gets darker as you go up, creating the starlit sky for the reindeer and sleigh to swoop across.  This design also meant I didn't have to add an image to each globe; I'm sneaky that way.

As you can see with the second card, I used the Mama Elephant Globies Grid Cover leftovers as . . . gumdrops!  I sponged them with Distress Oxides then applied a bit of glitter paste before sprinkling on a handful of the Lawn Fawn Tiny Gingerbread images colored with Copics.

Of course, I used Stickles to create dimensional gumdrops on the gingerbread!

I'll see you again soon.  If you'd like to check out my other creations in the meantime, you can visit my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, my Instagram, or my Pinterest Board

Hello and welcome to the Fall/Winter Coffee Lover's Blog Hop...yay!!! I LOVE this hop. It is such a fantastic way to be inspired by all of the amazing projects everyone creates for this theme. I created this penguin-themed card to share with you today. I used the super cute Lovely Latte die set from Lawn Fawn.

I started by die-cutting all of the layers I would use to create the card. I used the lovely new Backdrop Stitched Snowflake die to create the base panel of the card, the scarf and ear muff covers. I then added a bit of color to the base panel using Merman and Peacock Lawn Fawn inks. Next, I used the Stitched Mug Frame, the Outside in Stitched Mug, to create the larger penguin mug. For the whipped cream on the larger mug I used the mane die from the Tiny Gift Box Unicorn & Horse Add-on. To create the whipped cream border on the smaller penguin mug, I used the Slimline Stitched Hillside Border die set, to create the penguin frame, the flippers, the beak for the larger mug I used the dies from the Spring Critter Huggers die set.For the smaller mug, I used the dies from the Tiny Gift Box Peacock & Turkey Add-on die set. The accessories for the larger mug are from the Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-on die set. The snowflakes are from the Magic Iris Snowglobe Add-on.

For the sentiment, I used the  Magic Holiday Messages stamp set along with the circle from the Shutter Card Snow Globe Add-on. I hope you enjoy the card I created to share with you today. Thank you very much for taking the time to stop by. I hope you each have a wonderful and blessed day.

Hello from Toni: Cozy Fall Critters

Hi, Doodlebugs fans! Are those of you in the northern hemisphere enjoying the season? I certainly have although I admit I'm a bit tired of raking leaves. But I'm not tired of seeing our residents squirrels; they're so very cute.

As is the squirrel and other critters in the Pretty Pink Posh Cozy Fall Critters set. I paired it with the Pretty Pink Posh Autumn Leaves stencil sponged with Distress Oxide Dried Marigold, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint.

I colored up the squirrel with Zigs and added highlights throughout with my beloved Posca white pigment pen.

I used the Pretty Pink Posh Cozy Fall Critters skunk on the second card. I used happy papers from the Honey Bee Birthday Bash 6x6 pad on the card base then added a circle frame for that adorable critter.

I used a Mama Elephant Let's Chat speech bubble for the sentiment.

Now I'm not one to waste crafty supplies so after I got over my frustration at how some of the black lines I had drawn on the sponged leaves below turned out, I got back to it and decided it wasn't the ugliest thing on the planet.

I made the sketchy lines a feature, adding a thick black line to create a faux panel and sponged the bottom with just a tiny bit of Dried Marigold.  Not too shabby for a one layer card that almost made it into the bin.

I'll see you again soon.  If you'd like to check out my other creations in the meantime, you can visit my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, my Instagram, or my Pinterest Board.

I'm Snow Glad We're Friends with Lawn Fawn...

Hello everyone. Happy November!!! I am sharing this card with you today using the adorable Penguin Party stamp set from Lawn Fawn.

I started by coloring all of the images I would use. I used the hat and hot cocoa from the Tiny Winter Friends, the hot cocoa from the Holiday Helpers, the tree from the Merry Mice set, the wreath from the Car Critters Christmas Add-on, and the gingerbread cookies from the A Creature Was Stirring  I used Copic markers to color the images.

Copics Used:
C9, W7, W5, W3, W2
BG13, BG11, BG10, E40, E41

Next, I used the Quilted Backdrop die to create the base panel. I also used the  Slimline Stitched Hillside Border to create the snowy ground. Lately, I have loved creating a framed border around the card. You can use the Basic Rectangles die set to create a frame.

I then used the banner from the Fancy Wavy Banners die set to die cut the banner for the card. I hope you like the card I created to share with you today. Thank you so much for stopping by. I pray you each have a wonderful and blessed day. Please feel welcome to visit me on my blogIG or Pinterest.

Hello from Toni: Mama Elephant Urban City

Hi, Doodlebugs fans! Today I'm using Mama Elephant Urban City in two utterly different cards.

The first card is a cute little scene where Mama Elephant Fly with Me ellies are floating high up over the Urban City

I used Polychromos colored pencils for a change of pace and to explore color layering (underpainting idea).  I particularly love the colorful cityscape.

For the second card, I wanted to simplify things.  As you can imagine, coloring each little building took quite some time so this time, I blended Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina, Picked Raspberry and Antique Linen then stamped the Mama Elephant Urban City on top with Versafine Onyx Black.

After that I used the MFT Confetti Stencil with the same Distress Oxides for snow and added a few snowflakes while I was at it.

The Waffle Flower Wonderful Christmas sentiment is embossed with Ranger Aqua Tinsel Embossing Powder which is so pretty (and nigh impossible to photograph).

I'll see you again soon.  If you'd like to check out my other creations in the meantime, you can visit my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, my Instagram, or my Pinterest Board.
