Need some inspiration?  Here's my latest vellum project.

I cut the pennants (MFT Banner Die-namics) and "Happy" (MFT Happy Birthday Die-namics) from vellum and then colored them with my Copic Markers.  I love the transparent, overlapping look of the letters!

February Challenge- Vellum

Here's more vellum inspiration for you.  In case you missed it, our Challenge this month is vellum.  We're posting and sharing ideas in our Creative Community on Facebook.  Be sure to take a few moments to visit us and see what it's all about.

In the meantime, here's what I've been working on.  This technique works best on the heavier vellum.  So, if you're at the store, be sure to pick up the heavier weight.  The lighter weight melts when you heat it.

I embossed the die cut butterfly with an embossing folder and my Big Shot machine.  The polka dots are heat embossed using Versa Mark and white embossing powder.  Again, be sure to use the heavier vellum and use caution when heating.  The vellum will melt if you overheat it.  Additional supplies used are listed at the bottom of this post.

Additional Supplies Used:
Darla Butterfly die from Memory Box
Sentiment from Sweet Roses stamp set from MFT Stamps
Embossing Folder from Sizzix
Heart Delights die from Memory Box
White embossing powder
Versa Mark ink
Darling Dots stamp set from MFT Stamps
Copic Marker for coloring the heart

MFT Stamps- Birthday Princess

Today I'm sharing a card made with the Pure Innocence, Birthday Princess stamp from MFT Stamps.  I made this card for my niece a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd share it here on the blog.

Enjoy!

I used Copic Markers to color the image and paper pieced the dress.  I believe the paper is from Basic Grey's RSVP collection.  The sparkle on the crown is from Golden Rod Stickles.

What's New Wednesday

Our CHA orders are starting to arrive.  We have lots of new products on the shelf and several boxes waiting to be unpacked.  Below are a few images highlighting the new products.

I'm loving the new enamel shapes.  They are great for cards and Project Life.

I'm still a fan of the enamel dots.  Lovin' the bright colors, glitter, and of course, the wood!  Visit our Pinterest Board Hot Products- Epoxy Dots for some inspiration.

My new favorite obsession, script lettering.  So naturally, we must have bamboo brushes.  Lots of inspiration HERE on Pinterest.  Class coming soon (April, hopefully).

Golden, Fluid Acrylics!!!  So excited about these.

Record It kits from My Mind's Eye.  These are going fast!!  Perfect for Project Life.

New stencils from Tim Holtz.

Wink of Stella pens from Zig- $6.99.  It's hard to see in the image, but there's lot of great shimmer in this ink.  Watch a video review HERE or visit our Pinterest Board for Wink of Stella Pens.

Back in stock, just in time for Valentine's Day.

MFT Die-namics Polka Dot Cover Up

I saw a fun technique on Pinterest the other day, and thought I'd try something similar using the Polka Dot Cover Up Die from MFT Stamps.

I cut the Polka Dot Cover up from white cardstock.  Then taped it to the front of my card with some washi tape to use as a template.  I used some of my scraps to cut pink and gold polka dots to glue randomly inside the template.  I placed the dots heavier at the top of the card using fewer towards the bottom.  Once they were dry, I removed the white piece I was using as a template.  Save it, you can use it for another card!

The banner was cut from MFT Die-namics Dimensional Banner set.  The sentiment is from the Sentiment Sampler set from Paper Smooches.

Enjoy!

February Challenge- Vellum

Have you posted your vellum project in our Creative Community on Facebook?  What are you waiting for?  We will be randomly selecting one post to win a $10 gift certificate.  So, get some vellum and scissors and show us what you can do!

If you're looking for inspiration, head over to the group.  We'll be sharing vellum inspired projects all month long.

Here's something to get you started.  Alcohol ink and vellum!

No special technique.  I opened the bottles and dripped (with a little fling) them onto the vellum.  Once dry, (it only takes a few seconds) I cut it with the Balloon Die-namics from MFT Stamps.

The strings are from the Party Balloons stamp set from MFT Stamps and the sentiment is from the Sentiment Sampler from Paper Smooches.  The alcohol ink colors are Wild Plum, Lettuce, and Aqua.  I used vellum adhesive to glue the vellum down.  It works great.  You really can't see it!

FREE Friday "Make and Take" Rescheduled

As a result of the baby's arrival, we're having to reschedule our Friday "Make and Take".  Stop in on Saturday, between 1PM and 3PM if you are interested in making the fun Valentine pin below.

It's a FREE Saturday "Make and Take" this week.

Art Journal Inspiration

When I get new products that I haven't used before, I open my art journal to play.  It's a great way to experiment with products and techniques.  Sometimes I end up with something completely wonderful and unexpected.  Sometimes, I hate it.  If that's the case, a coat of gesso covers everything up, and it's ready for something new.  Either way, I end up with lots of fun and interesting backgrounds in my art journal.  So, this weekend, I sat down and added some doodles to some of those pages.  Here's a peek at one of those pages.

The background was created using stencils and Gelatos.  I added the doodles with my favorite journal pen, my black Uniball Gel pen.  It's a must for your art journal, and probably our most popular pen.

Enjoy!
