September Guest Contributor : Farhana - Interactive Cards

Hello crafty friends! It's Farhana again! If you missed my first post with Doodlebugs, you can find it here. Today I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone by coloring these little girl images from the MFT STAMPS: Sweet Besties. Luckily not much blending was needed as the images are small, making them perfect to practice on. All the copic marker combinations used will be listed at the end of the post.

Since the images were simple and perfect for little girls, I thought it would be fun to create some interactive cards. I started with stamping, coloring and fussy cutting the images. Then the fun part of assembling the cards!

For the first card, I created a gatefold card. I started with a 5.5 by 8.5 inch piece of card stock, then scored it 2.125 inch (2 1/8 inch). I cut two strips of paper (2 1/8 by 5 1/2 inches) from the MFT STAMPS: Watercolor Wash Paper Pad, and adhered them to the front of the card base. Using a punch, I made two small holes and threaded some ribbon through and tied a bow to hold the card together. I adhered two of the stamped images to each side of the card, and stamped some flowers to the background with a purple ink. The sentiment is stamped with the same ink on the inside of the card.

The second card is a shaker, my favorite type of card to make! For this one I tried to make it look like the shaker is the flowers the little girl is throwing. I started cutting down to a A2 from the MFT STAMPS: Watercolor Wash Paper Pad, and  die cut a circle, added some acetate, layered with foam tape, and filled it with some flower sequins I had in my stash. Then, I adhered the card front to an A2 top folding card base. I adhered the image next to the shaker and added a sentiment to finish off the card.

For the last card, I made a window card, very similar to the shaker, but instead of sequins, I stamped multiples of the floral images that you can see though the window. I started with a A2 top folding card base, adhered a 4.5 x 5.5 piece of pattern paper from the MFT STAMPS: Watercolor Wash Paper Pad on the inside of the card and die cut the circle window on the top flap. I adhered one little girl image on the outside and another on the inside, and stamped two sentiments and flowers in a pink ink to complete the card.

Lastly, the copic combos that I used are : R20-22, V15-17, Y11-13, E11-31-33-37-55-57

Friday with Amy: Pretty Pink Posh | Autumn Greetings

Hey everybody, it's Amy here with a fun fall scenery that I designed with Pretty Pink Posh stamps:

I'm still very much in a fall state of mind, how about you?

I started off with a Bristol panel.  I used the My Favorite Things - Cloud Stencil.  I went ahead and used some fall Distress Oxide colors:

I used a pale copic color palette:

Y00 | Y11 | Y21
G20 | G40
E40 | E42

To ground the stamped images a used a skinny strip of pattern paper from the My Favorite Things - Fun & Frolic.

That's it for me, I'll be back again next week!

Tuesday with Toni: MFT Squirrel!

I assume you've seen the movie Up? That dog is so flippin' cute when he says "Squirrel!" My friends and I say that a LOT to each other. We're a scatter-brained group of nutty ladies!

I started my card by stamping Sunny Studio Elegant Leaves with a mixed of Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron onto the card front. I cannot wait to do this with fall colors!

Next I colored up the MFT BB Squirrel! images using Copics. I can totally picture the squirrel exclaiming "Squirrel!" and dropping all his nuts when he realized he forgot a birthday. Tee hee!

I cut out a circle of vellum to ground the images. The images and MFT Essential Speech Bubble sentiment are adhered with either Gina K Connect Glue or popped up with Scotch Foam Tape.

Tuesday with Toni - Lawn Fawn Spooky Village

Hello, everyone!  I'm sure you've gotten some of the new Lawn Fawn release (and hopefully from DB!) or are going to do so. Everything is soooooo cute!

Here I've used the older Lawn Fawn Ready, Set, Snow set and paired it with the new Lawn Fawn Spooky Village.

The images fit perfectly in the snow globe, don't they? Imagine the cuteness if I had taken this a step further and created a shaker, maybe with little bats and glitter? Ack!

I colored up the scene using Copics, basing the colors on the Lawn Fawn Fall Fling 6x6 Paper. Love that pad--everything coordinates!

Lastly, I cut and trimmed down one of the new Lawn Fawn Simple Wavy Banners so that the Lawn Fawn Spooky Village sentiment would fit perfectly. I gently curved up the edges too.

September Guest Contributor : Farhana

Hi crafty friends and happy Monday! This is Farhana, and welcome to my first guest post for DoodlebugsWA! Super grateful for this opportunity and excited to share my creations with you! Anyone that knows me, knows that I love everything floral! So of course I went a little overboard creating with the MFT Stamp : Painted Poppies stamp set.

For the first card I used one of my favorite coloring techniques, copic markers on kraft paper. I stamped the images using memento ink (in rich cocoa) and then used copic markers in R89, R39, R27 and R24 for flowers and YG67, YG17 and YG03 for the leaves. After diecutting the images using the coordinating dies, I arranged and adhered them to my card front using liquid adhesive and foam tape to add some dimension. I stamped a sentiment from the MFT STAMPS: Brushstroke Expressions using the same memento ink (in rich cocoa), and added a finishing touch using Nuvo drops in Metallic Bright Gold.

For the second card, I used ZIG: Clean Color Real Brush Marker in Carmine Red (022)Wine Red (024)Mid Green (046) and Mid Gray (096) to color the images stamped on STRATHMORE: Bristol Smooth Paper Pad using VersaFine Pigment Ink Pad (Onyx Black). Once colored, I die cut and adhered them to a card front that I cut from MFT STAMPS: Watercolor Wash paper pad. I added the sentiment on a strip from the same paper pad, from MFT STAMPS: Brushstroke Expressions and adhered it using some foam tape. And as a finishing touch I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops (in Key Lime).

For the third card, I used another one of my to go techniques, messy water coloring. I'm not the best at water coloring, but I messy I can do! I used my gansai tambi watercolors (in Carmine Red (35), Pale Aqua (50), Mid Green (53)), but you can use distress inks along with a water brush. After stamping the images in a random pattern using VersaFine Pigment Ink Pad (Onyx Black) on watercolor paper, I wet the entire paper and added color too it. After letting it dry a bit, I added some more color for dimension. I let it dry over night before added the embossed sentiment from MFT STAMPS: Brushstroke Expressions and some Nuvo drops in Metallic Bright Gold.

Have you used shimmer powder yet? It's a very easy way to create a messy water color look! I started by stamping the images on watercolor paper using VersaFine Pigment Ink Pad (Onyx Black), then I tapped the powder onto the stamped paper and sprayed water onto it using a mist sprayer. That's it! Then I let it dry overnight before die cutting and arranging and adhering them on to my card base, adding some Pretty Pink Posh jewels and a sentiment from MFT STAMPS: Brushstroke Expressions to finish off the card.

The last card is the simplest of them all, why? Well no coloring! A little stamping and die cutting and done. I used paper from the MFT STAMPS: Watercolor Wash paper pad set in green and pink for the leaves and flowers, and a sheet of blue for the background. I finished off with a sentiment from MFT STAMPS: Brushstroke Expressions and some Pretty Pink Posh jewels.

Friday with Amy: Honey Bee Stamps | Fall is my Favorite

Hello and Happy Friday!  It's Amy here with another Fall themed card. This is a slimline design that gives me more room to add images.  Today I'm featuring a couple of Honey Bee Stamps:

Pumpkin Patch   |   Fall

I do love the coordinating Fall Honey Cuts and Harvest Festival 6x6 Paper Pad.

You're going to want to pick up the Harvest Festival 6x6 paper pad.  I literally had to contemplate which side I wanted to use.  I decided to go with the crochet and geometric panels.

My daughter and I are huge fans of the pumpkin patches.  We go to two different ones and will probably look for another one to add to our schedule.

I adore the images in the Pumpkin Patch set and inked and colored them all up.  When I set up my design I decided to use all but one of the pumpkins.

The word Fall has been die cut from the same crochet panel.  The sentiment has been heat embossed in white using the same paper.

My copics coordinate with the overall color palette of the Harvest Festival Paper Pad:

R05 | R37
YR12 | YR04
BG15 | BG57
WO | W3
E23 | E25

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!

Tuesday with Toni: MFT Fresh Cut Flowers

Good day, everyone! I have two cards for you today. You know when you create a card that you really like but then in some unfathomable way manage to ruin it? Well, here we are.

This is the original card, a lovely clean and simple design featuring MFT Fresh Cut Flowers. I colored the flowers using Copics. The Altenew Versatile Vases sentiment is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. Loved it. All that white space really made the flowers stand out.

But somehow in the time between taking the finished photo and returning the card to my desk, I inky fingered it. A LOT. Not even cover it with a few sequins smudges or even artsy ones. Argh!

I couldn't bear to toss the flowers away so I fussy cut them out. I then chose one of the purple Lawn Fawn Spiffy Speckles 6x6 Papers for the card base with the Mama Elephant Grid Window Die as a sort of trellis on top.

I mixed Distress Oxides Mowed Lawn and Shabby Shutters for the MFT Bitty Bears sentiment.

And those sequins?  At least one covers up a smudge. Seriously!!!!!
