March Challege and Card Drive

Wow!  We haven't tallied up all the cards or chosen our winner for February yet.  However, we are amazed and thankful to all who participated. We have collected so many cards for the elderly in our community who are confined to Nursing Homes.  I'm sure your cards will bring them joy!  We will announce the winner next week.

For March we'd like to challenge you to create uplifting, cheerful, and inspirational cards for the homeless community in Seattle.  We will collect your cards and deliver them to Facing Homelessness, an amazing organization dedicated to changing the way we see the homeless.  If you haven't heard of them, I encourage you to visit their website HERE

We'll be giving away one $30 gift certificate to our online store.  You'll receive one entry into the giveaway for each card you donate.  Please remember to include your name and email address on a slip of paper for each card you bring in.  This will be your entry into our drawing.

Again, this month's cards should be focused on cheer and thoughtfulness (ie wishing you sunshine, thinking of you, you're amazing, happy day, etc.)  If you are unsure of an appropriate sentiment, simply leave the card blank.

Chocolate Bunny from Poppy Stamps

Today we're sharing a couple Spring and Easter cards for our February Card Drive.  This month we're collecting Spring and Easter cards for the elderly people in nursing homes, here in our community.  If you'd like to participate, you can find more information HERE.

Today we decided to use the Hapstead Oval Frame die from Poppy Stamps to frame the adorable Chocolate Bunny from Poppy Stamps.  We also used it to create a beautiful Spring card last week.  If you missed it, you can find it HERE.

We used the Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the bunny and the Hampstead Oval Frame.  The butterflies were colored with Copic markers.   We stamped the background with the Myriad Dot background stamp from MFT Stamps.

It's hard to see in the image below, but the butterflies are embellished with some Stardust Stickles.

Here's another version of the same card.  Instead of using the Hampstead Oval Frame, we used the Framed Tags- Madison Avenue from Mama Elephant.  I love that die!!!  We added a bow to the bunny using the Bows Die from Paper Smooches.

We used the Lunar Animals stamp set from Mama Elephant to create these cards.  The square frame was cut from the Stitched Square Frame from MFT Stamps and the cute little animals were colored using the Clean Color Real Brush Markers from Zig.  We used the Myraid Dot Background stamp from MFT Stamps to create the cute dotted background.

Hampstead Oval Frame - Poppy Stamps

We have more cards to share for our Spring Card Drive.  Our challenge this month is creating Spring / Easter cards for the elderly people in nursing homes here in our community.  If you'd like to join us, you'll find all the details HERE.

We used the Emelia Butterfly Trio, Devyn Butterfly Trio, and the Hampstead Oval Frame to create a few Easter cards.  We used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the images we cut from watercolor paper.  The edges of the background paper were colored using Tim Holtz Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool.  We used some of the same ink mixed with a little water to splatter some additional color on the background and added some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Here's a close-up of the butterflies.  The back of the butterflies were cut from vellum.  We added some shimmer to the colored portion with a Clear Wink of Stella pen.

Here's a look at two variations of this card.

The Happy Easter stamp is from the Crazy Talk stamp set from Tim Holtz.  Love this set for basic sentiments.

Lunar Animals - Mama Elephant

We're loving the cute little Lunar Animals from Mama Elephant.  I think you'll be seeing quite a few cards and projects this month using these cuties.

Today, we created a super simple, three window card using Blueprints #23 and the Dotted Background stamp from MFT Stamps.  Aren't those little critters adorable?  We stamped and cut them from watercolor paper and colored them with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (my new favorite coloring technique).

Here's a close up look at the critters peeking out from the windows.

Lunar Animals- Mama Elephant

We used the Lunar Animals stamp set from Mama Elephant and some Mini Cards and Envelopes from American Crafts to create these cute little Easter / Spring cards.  We'll be giving them to the elderly in our community for our Nursing Home Card Drive this month.  If you'd like to participate, you'll find more information HERE.

We stamped and cut the Lunar Animals from watercolor paper.  Then, colored them with the Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.  The frame was cut using the Stitched Square Frames from MFT Stamps.  They fit perfectly on these cards!  The "Happy Easter" and "hippity hoppity" are from the Crazy Talk stamp set from Tim Holtz.

Here's the three different animals we used from the Lunar Animals set.  They all seemed appropriate for Spring and Easter.

Here's a closer look at the little chick card.
