Oh Christmas Tree from MFT Stamps

Today we're sharing this retro style Christmas card using the Oh Christmas Tree stamp set from MFT Stamp.  Super simple!

We cut the scallop and stitched pieces using the Blueprints #20 die set from MFT Stamps.  The trees we're stamped with some fun, non traditional colors, and embellished with silver stars stamped with Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink (my favorite silver metallic ink).  We added a bit of Silver Stickles inside the centers of the stars for some added bling.

Supplies Used:

Merry and Bright Holiday Card

Our card today was created using the String of Lights die from Lawn Fawn and the Merry and Bright channel die from Poppy Stamps.

After cutting the light bulbs from watercolor paper, we colored them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  It's hard to see in the photo, but we added a layer of clear embossing powder over the ink to give it a glassy look.  We also added some Stardust Stickles to the edges for some added shimmer.

The Merry and Bright was cut from the front of the card using the Merry and Bright channel die from Poppy Stamps.  We colored  a strip of paper using the same Distress Inks we used for the bulbs and added it behind the Merry and Bright.

Mary (mom) has been busy creating this amazing box.  It's perfect for storing note cards, envelopes, stamps, pens, and the items necessary for hand-written correspondence.  It would also make a lovely art box!

She used some of her favorite Tim Holtz products and a picture of my grandmother to transform this ordinary paper mache box into a work of art.

Here's a picture of the box tilted up on it's side.

Traveling with Art Supplies

Hello everyone.  I'm traveling this week, and thought I'd share a quick post describing how I travel with a few of my supplies.  My flight is a long one, I'm traveling from Seattle to Boston.  So, I'll be sitting for quite some time.  Here's the supplies I travel with.  Creating helps distract me from the long, boring flight.

I have my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in a bag.  The bag is deep enough that the markers will fit "tip down" so I can see the colored ends.  I sit this bag in the seat pocket in front of me and can easily choose the colors I need.

Also in the bag is a waterbrush, and a paper towel folded in half several times.  This is what I use to clean the tip of my brush when switching colors.

Before I leave on my trip, I stamp several images onto watercolor paper, that has been cut to card size.  I use Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp my images (I like the no line watercolor technique).  You could also stamp these with Archival Ink if you prefer your images to have the black lines.  I slide these images into a small cellophane bag and then into my marker bag.  The cellophane bag keeps them protected while I travel, and I can use it as a pallet if I need to.  Once I'm finished, I used my paper towel to remove the color from the cellophane.

Super easy, I pull out one bag from my carry-on, and I have everything ready to go!  When I get home, I stamp a sentiment onto them and add them to the front of a card.

Tim Holtz Snow Globe Frame and Card

Today we have a wonderful, festive frame to share.  Mary used the new Snow Globe die from Tim Holtz to create this amazing, dimensional village for the Holidays.

She covered the wooden frame with modeling or texture paste to give it that "snowy" feeling.  She cut all the pieces from cardstock and inked the edges with a little bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  They are layered inside the frame with some foam dimensional tape and embellished with some glitter.

The pieces are protected behind a piece of clear acrylic that covers the opening in the frame.

Here's a closer look at the little village.

She used the extra houses and trees to recreate the card featured on the package of the die.

SUPPLIES USED:
Snow Globe die from Tim Holtz
Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Tim Hotlz
Ink Blending Tool from Tim Holtz
Foam Tape from Scotch
Stardust Stickles from Ranger (or glitter)
