Altered Box

Mary has been busy again.  She decided it was time to create a new box using a recycled Flat Rate box from the Post Office.  The base of this box it covered in Sticky Back Canvas from Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Line, manufactured by Ranger Ink.  Of course, she used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to transform the canvas from a harsh white to a soft, inked, tone.  She used a resist paper from Creative Imaginations for the top of the box and inked it with the same Distress Inks she used on the bottom of the box.  The rose is made from vellum and is cut with Spellbinders Rose Creation Die.  Shimmer and color was added to the rose by using Perfect Pearls Sprays.  The metal accents are from Tim Holtz Idea-o-logy Collection and Vintaj.

Enjoy the images!

What's New Wednesday

New this week:

Nautical Dies from Lifestyle Crafts.  Have you noticed how popular the Nautical theme is?  I'm starting to see it everywhere...party, gift, home decor, and of course paper crafting.  Stop in for a peek at some of these great designs.

Sizzix has introduced some amazing Pop Up dies!  A simple image doesn't begin to explain all of the fun and creative projects you can make with these.  So, I've included some links to a couple of videos.  Click HERE and HERE for some great video demonstrations explaining how these dies work.

Finally, the Woodland Park collection from October Afternoon is here.  The collection includes several great papers, sticker sheets, and washi tape.  Don't miss it.  The peacock papers are sure to disappear quickly.

Scrabble Tile Charms

My niece has been visiting me the past couple of weeks.  We've been busy crafters, creating all sorts of fun things.  I thought I'd share the scrabble tile charms we've been working on.  This technique has been around for some time, so many of you may have seen this already.  For those of you that haven't, this is a fun, summer project for kids, teens and grown ups.  Stop by the store for the supplies.  We carry everything you'll need, including the scrabble tiles.

Supplies:
Scrabble Tile
Bale (loop for chain)
Patterned paper
Multi-Medium and/or Glossy Accents
Ball Chain

Directions:
1. Choose an image from your patterned paper and cut to fit your scrabble tile.
2. Adhere the patterned paper to the scrabble tile with multi-medium or Glossy Accents.  Let dry over night.
3. Once dry, I sanded the edges of the paper smooth against the tile.  My paper was slightly larger than the tile.  However, if you measure better than I do, this step may not be necessary.
4.  Apply the multi-medium or glossy accents to the top of your scrabble tile.  If you like the raised epoxy look on the top of your tiles, you'll need to use Glossy Accents.
4.  Let dry overnight.  Glossy Accents may take longer to dry.
5.  Use Glossy Accents or multi-medium to adhere the bale to the back of the scrabble tile.
6.  Add ball chain and you're done!

New Sizzix dies are hanging on the walls in the Die Cut room.  I love the Candy Jar boxes!

Lolly and Her Brolly

I have so much fun coloring these girls from Stamping Bella.  This one seemed appropriate as we are still waiting for summer here in the Pacific Northwest.  (please hurry)  I paired her with some paper from Basic Grey's PB&J collection and colored her with Copic markers.  Enjoy.
