Christmas Tags

I thought I'd share a few Christmas tags today.  Nothing fancy, just a quick post, with some quick ideas, to dress up your packages.  I used Spellbinders dies to cut all of the tags and shapes.  The stamps are from Inkadinkado, and the snowflake punch I used for the 3rd tag is from Martha Stewart Crafts.  We've got all of these at the store if you'd like a closer look.

Black Friday Event Pictures

I thought I'd share a few Black Friday photos with all of you and take a moment to thank you. We realize you have many choices when it comes to shopping, and appreciate that you choose Doodlebugs for your paper crafting and party supplies.  Your support is the reason we are still here.  Thank you from all of us at Doodlebugs.

For those of you that were able to attend, we hope you had fun.  Congratulations to Ericka, she won the Grand Prize, a Big Shot machine from Sizzix and $400 worth of Lifestyle Crafts/Quickutz dies.  We got so caught up in all the excitement, we forgot to take a picture of her with all of her "loot".  We hope you enjoy it Ericka!

Lifestyle Crafts and SRM Stickers- 2012 Calendar

Sherree made this cute and very simple calender using the coupon book die from Lifestyle Crafts and the 2012 calendar stickers from SRM Stickers.  To make this, simply cut 12 cardstock pages using the Lifestyle crafts coupon book die.  Assemble them with brads, ribbon, rings, or whatever you like.  Then, grab all of the scraps of patterned paper that you save.  Pick out 12 patterns (one for each month) and punch a circle, scallop circle, square, star or whatever shape you like.  You could even use a picture for each month.  Attach each month's calendar sticker and patterned paper to the 12 pages you cut and you're done.  I thought a couple of magnets on the back would be great for attaching it to the fridge or a file cabinet.

This is a great, simple, easy and inexpensive gift that your friends and family are sure to love.  They will think of you all year long as they use their calendar.

Countdown Calendars

There's still enough time to create a countdown calendar.  This garland Countdown Calendar is quick, easy, and requires only a few supplies.

To make this, you'll need the supplies show below.  I used a 1 inch circle punch and a 1.5 inch scallop circle punch.  I printed the numbers on cardstock using my computer.  The glassine bags are the smallest size we carry (the peanut size) but you can use larger ones if you like.  I cut some patterened paper to fit the inside of the bags, punched out my numbers and scallop circles, and then glued them to the front of the bags.  Then, I inserted the patterned paper and added a treat or an experience (ie  go see Santa, hang candy canes on the tree, bake cookies) to each bag.  Once that's done, hang them on twine using those cute mini clothes pins we carry at the store.

I found a few other cute ideas on Pinterest that I thought I would share.

7 Gypsies ATC Tray

These ATC Trays from 7 Gypsies are so versatile and can be used in so many ways.  I love how (Mary) my mom, incorporated years of family Christmas memories into one piece.  I enjoy looking at the pictures of me and my sisters when we were younger and remembering how much we looked forward to Christmas morning.

Create one for yourself and display it each year during Christmas.

Make it Monday

Stop by today between 1 PM and 3 PM for our Make it Monday project.  This week we'll be making a Christmas card using some of the Tim Holtz Alteration dies and embossing folders from Sizzix.

We used Tim Hotlz Carved Ornaments #2 Alterations die from Sizzix for the ornament and embossed it with the snowflake embossing border from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Christmas Background and Border set.   We then used the embossing background folder from the same set to emboss the background of the card.  Finally, we added some sparkle/shimmer by dragging some Platinum Brilliance Ink from Tsukeniko across the embossed portion of the ornament.

Quick and Simple Card

I thought I'd post a quick and easy card.  Busy lives often make it difficult to get everything done on our list.  So, if you are one of those people with a long "To Do" list, this card is for you.  It's quick, easy and inexpensive!

The upper portion of the card is embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.   I added a scallop border that I cut with one of Spellbinders Edgeabilities dies, but you could use any border die.  The bottom portion of the card is patterned cardstock from American Crafts.  Add a tag and some ribbon, punch the corners with a corner round and adhere it to the front of your card base.

Friday's Creative Cafe

Don't forget to stop by for our Creative Cafe "Happy Hour" from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM.  We'll be making some festive bottle tags using several of the Tim Holtz Alteration dies from Sizzix.  Keep a few bottles of wine or sparkling cider and several tags on hand this Holiday season.  You'll be prepared when you need those last minute gifts for a friend or hostess.

The tag top (portion that fits around the neck) was made using the Mini Cabinet die from Sizzix/Tim Holtz.  We used a circle punch to make the appropriate size hole to  fit around the neck of the bottle.  The front of the tag is a rectangle piece of cardstock, embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder, and attached it to  the bottom portion of the tag top.  We added some bling by cutting some POW glitter paper from American Crafts with the Vintage Noel die and a border punch.  Add some ribbon, and you're done.

Kraft Boxes- Perfect for gift wrapping!

I love these simple kraft boxes we started carrying a few weeks ago.  They are the perfect size for cookies, mittens, bath salts, or any small little gift for someone special.  I used a toothbrush and some white paint to create a speckled effect on the box.  Then I took a strip of paper, wrapped it around the box, added some fibers, ribbon, and a tag.  So easy and so festive.

Want in on a little secret?  We are currently working on putting these together in kits.  You'll be able to get all of these festive "findings" in one little bag.  No need to purchase an entire roll of fibers, a bag of tags, eyelets or snowflakes. You won't even have to purchase the entire sheet of paper and cut it.  We'll have everything you need to wrap 6 boxes, all in one cute little bag.

Stay tuned for the details....

Simple Stories & 7 Gypsies - Countdown Calendar

Mary turned this....

...into this.

It's a beautiful Christmas Countdown Calendar filled with 25 seasonal activities.  Each tag has a pocket on the back.  The pocket has a small tag tucked inside with a fun activity that ties in with Christmas.  I love this idea and all the beautiful tags she created.  The box is the Mini Library Drawer from 7 Gypsies and most of the papers, tags, and embellishments are from Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas.  This collection is also perfect for Ali Edwards December Daily project.

Below are some additional photos and a couple close-up shots of the tags and the activities.  Stop in the store and take a look at all 25 tags and activities, and pick up the supplies to complete this beautiful project before December 1st.

Here are a few other activities/traditions she used:
Buy candy canes and hang on the Christmas Tree.
Bake cookies.
Visit Santa.
Pick out a Christmas Tree.
Decorate the Christmas Tree.
Take food to the local food bank.
Wrap gifts.

Leave us a comment and tell us  what your Holiday traditions are.

Test Tube Holders

I've been seeing these cute things all over the place.  So, I thought I'd make my own version with the test tubes we have here at the store.  The instructions can be found here.  I modified mine to 12 inches vs. 11 inches since the tubes we sell are a bit longer.  I also used Spellbinders circle and scallop circle dies and the stamps are from JustRite stamps.

A Few Christmas Ideas

I thought the first of November was a perfect time to share a few of our Christmas projects from our August Holiday Workshop.  If you haven't purchased tickets  to our Holiday Workshop, coming up this Sunday, November 6th, time is running out.  I believe we have a couple of tickets left.

We used tissue paper from 7 Gypsies and Multi-Medium from Ranger Ink to cover this glass votive candle.  Once we were done we added a bit of glitter, some ribbon, and a small holly embellishment from EK Success.

This card is made using the Spellbinders Labels Twenty and Ribbon Banners sets.  The Stamp is from JustRite Stamps Kindness Set and the punches (stocking and border) are from Martha Stewart Crafts.

We still have both of these on display at the store.  Stop in for a look and some help finding the supplies to recreate these.
