Altenew Beautiful Day

We had such fun last weekend creating this card for our Monthly Card Club.  We used the Beautiful Day stamp set from Altenew and Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create this faux bleached look.

The floral image was stamped and embossed onto watercolor paper that we cut using the Blueprints #13 from MFT Stamps.  Once that was complete, we applied Distress Ink to the watercolor paper, using the Ink Blending Tool.  We blended the ink from the bottom up, creating a heavier look at the bottom, and a softer, lighter took towards the top.

To lighten the ink inside the flower petals and leaves, we applied a liberal amount of water to the petal, allowed for it to sit for a few seconds, then removed it with a paper towel.  Do not rub the paper towel.  Press the paper towel firmly over the top of the petal and lift.  This will remove the water as well as some of the color.  Repeat this step for all the petals and leaves.  To remove more color, repeat the same steps.

It's very difficult to see in the photograph, but we did cover the petals and leaves with Clear Wink of Stella once we were done.  It added a wonderful, soft shimmer to the flower.  The metallic paint splatter (again, difficult to see) is from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors (shown below).  We used the silver.
