Weekend Inspiration- Art Journal Cover

This weekend's inspiration comes from Mary's art journal.  She's used the Challenge Product for this month, texture paste, to create a textured cover for her art journal.

First she covered the journal with some beautiful paper and applied texture paste in some areas.  Then set it aside to dry.  Once the texture paste was dry, color was added using Gelatos from Faber Castell and white paint.  The words and phrases were stamped on tissue and adhered to the cover with Collage Pauge.   She then added more paint to incorporate the words into the cover.

The cover is embellished with gold foiling and rub-ons.  She also added a strip of gold foil paper to the spine.

Texture Paste and Stamps

Mary's been playing with Texture Paste and the new Tim Hotlz stamps.  Look what she created on this canvas board!

This amazing butterfly is from the new Perspective stamp set from Tim Holtz.  Mary colored some texture paste with Walnut Stain Distress Ink before applying it to her canvas.  She allowed it to dry until the surface of the texture paste was dry, but it still felt soft when you touched it with firm pressure.  The next step was to ink the butterfly stamp with Walnut Stain Distress ink, place it on the texture paste, and apply even, gentle pressure, pressing the stamp into the paste.

The results are amazing.

There are still a few days left to  post images of your projects using Texture Paste, our Product Challenge for this month.  Head over to our Creative Community and share your creative projects.  You might win a prize!

She also created a quick and simple card using the same stamps.

Enjoy!

Pocket Scrapbooking with Technique Tuesday and Avery Elle

Today we're sharing some fun pocket scrapbooking / Project Life cards we created using Technique Tuesday's February die, Always Arrows.  In addition to their monthly die, we used the Happy Day Flair stamp set and the Flair Maker die (banners and buttons).  We also used the Bunting Stamp set  and the 6x6 Everyday Collection paper pad from Avery Elle to give it a festive, celebration feel. These cards would be a perfect companion for any celebration or party.

Here's the Flair stamp set and the Flair Maker die.  It's great for creating banners and popping those cute flair buttons up for a little dimension.  The zig zag border is from Avery Elle's Dotted Border set.

Here's the Flair stamp set again, paired with the die for this month, Always Arrows, from Technique Tuesday.  The dotted edge is from Avery Elle's Dotted Border dies and the stamped stars are from Avery Elle's Bunting Stamp set.

Here's a close-up.

Below is a card we created for journling.  All the stamps are from the Avery Elle Bunting set.

Looking for more ways you can used the products on our blog today?  We featured a card using the Avery Elle Bunting stamp set HERE.  We also used the new die, Always Arrows, from Technique Tuesday HERE.

Mama Elephant - Surprise Sentiment Stamp Set

I love shaker cards!  So, I love the Surprise Sentiment stamp set from Mama Elephant.  It includes a stamp that reads, "it's okay to shake me".

So, of course, I had to use it on the next shaker card I created.

I stamped the sentiment on the acetate, using white StazOn Opaque ink.  The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.  The scallop and stitched pieces are from Mama Elephant's Basic Set.

Mama Elephant Stamps

We LOVE Mama Elephant stamps and dies!  So, today, we're sharing a couple of cards using some of the stamps we carry in the store.

Lovin' the cute little super heroes and fun sentiments from the Tiny Heroes set.  We paired it with the Skyline die from Memory Box for the card below.

We used watercolors for the background and added some white paint splatters.  The tiny hero is colored with Copic markers.

Here's another card using the Tiny Heroes set.  This cute shaker card went to my niece for her birthday.  It's filled with sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Next up is an adorable cupcake card using the Carnival Cupcake set along with the Surprise Sentiment set. We used Copic markers to color the cupcake (sorry, forgot to write down the colors used for this one).

We added some "extra" to dress up the card.  We used Glossy Accents on the cherry for some great shine and some Liquid Pearls from Ranger for embellishments on the scallop border.  After we colored the cupcake, we added some Wink of Stella in clear to the frosting.  It's hard to see, but is shimmery.  The scallop border is from Avery Elle's Dotted Borders.  Yes, it's back in stock!

Happy crafting!

Weekend Inspiration

We have a page from Cathy's art journal for or our WEEKEND INSPIRATION today.

I've been practicing my hand lettering.  I've been able to find some great "tips and tricks" on pinterest for hand lettering.  You can find some of them HERE, on our Doodlebugs Lettering Pinterest Board.

Here's a close-up look at the flowers.  I drew them first with pencil.  Then, I used my Copic liner to trace my pencil marks.  Used a good eraser to remove the pencil lines, and colored them with watercolors.

Pocket Scrapbooking with Technique Tuesday

We love the new Technique Tuesday program for memory keeping.  The stamp and die set released each month work beautifully together for quick, easy, and creative story cards for your Project Life or pocket scrapbooking projects.

This week we have some fun 3x4 pocket cards we created using the 6x6 paper pad from the On Trend collection released by My Mind's Eye.  I love the colors in this collection and the gold accents.

For this card we used the NEW, February stamp and die set from Technique Tuesday.

Here's a close up of those elements.  The arrow is from the February die set, Always Arrows, and was cut from the new die cut chipboard we are carrying (its great for adding dimension to your projects).  We cut it a second time from the melon color cardstock and adhered them together for a great dimensional element.  The stamp is from the February stamp set, Family Time.  We stamped it with the Delicata Gold Glitz ink from Tsukinkeo.  Love that gold ink!!

The die cut stitched circle (below), is cut from January's die set, Pocket of Love.  The stamp is from Technique Tuesday's Time of Our Life stamp set.

Here's a close up of those dimensional elements.  The gold heart is colored using the same gold ink mentioned above.

The final pocket is created using Foil Sheets from Ranger.  We cut the the Wow Moment die from a sheet of cardstock that we covered with the Elizabeth Crafts double sided adhesive.  We removed the adhesive backing after we cut it, and applied the gold foil sheet, rubbing it until is was stuck to the adhesive.  To give the element more dimension, we cut a second piece from the NEW light weight chipboard we are now carrying, and secured the foil piece to the top of it.

Here's a close up look at the foiled embellishment we created.

The scallop border we used, is from the Dotted Border Die Set from Avery Elle.

Stamping Bella- Oodles of Love

Today we're featuring a favorite from Stamping Bella, Oodles of Love.   I love to use this stamp for a "Thinking of You" or even "Happy Birthday" cards.

Here's a close up look at those fun hearts.  We added some Stickles to the hearts.  It's hard to see in this image, but the hearts are glittered.  The scallop die cut edges are from Avery Elle's Dotted Border die.  We finally have it back in stock!
