Art Journal Inspiration

I love the new Bloom face stamps from Prima.  I think they are perfect for art journaling.  Ryan decided to use them for our watercolor challenge this month.  I love how they turned out.

This one is my favorite!  He used several products for the color, Inktense pencils, Distress Ink, Distress Markers.

I love the contrast of the black background in the image below.  After creating a colorful background and stamping the  image, Ryan blacked out the background with a black Montana Acrylic Marker.  The colorful background was created using Dylusions Sprays and Distress Ink.

There are several images in this new collection.  Here are the three we have.

What's New Wednesday

It's time again, for "What's New Wednesday."  Here's a peek at some of the new products that arrived this week.

We finally received our new Mixed Media Brushes that we ordered back in January.  Great selection and great prices!

For those of you looking for a storage solution for Stickles and Liquid Pearls, this is it.   Thanks Marge, for asking about these.  They are designed to store the bottles upside down.  This ensures the glue is always at the tip.  No more "spitting" and just the wrong time!!!  It also has a handy stand so you can display these trays on your worktable.  Stop in for a closer look.

A little boring, but something everyone needs.  Good, non-stick scissors!

We've got fun new Spring and Summer inks.

New embossing powders!  We have some fun new colors as well as the basics.  We have the basics in ultra-fine and regular.

Summer collections are starting to arrive.  This is "Summer Bliss" from Echo Park.

Here's what we're making on Friday.  Be sure to stop in between 5PM and 7PM for our FREE "Make and Take".  Available while supplies last.

Inktense Pencils

Today I have a SUPER easy card!

I used a water brush and some Inktense pencils to make three circles on some mixed media paper.   I used the same technique to add some stems and green along the bottom of the paper.

Then, I took my black Uniball gel pen and drew some scribbled circles and loose leaves and stems.  Don't think too much about this step.  It works better when you "just dot it".  I stamped a sentiment and added a die cut butterfly.  This one is from MFT Stamps, but anything you have will do.

Lastly, I grabbed my clear Wink of Stella brush pen and added some shimmer to the flowers and the butterfly.  Hopefully you can see the shimmer in the photo.  I love that pen!

Watercolor Inspiration

Have you joined our Creative Community and posted your watercolor inspired project?  If not, head over there now for some awesome inspiration!  Then, grab your Distress Markers, Gelatos, Twinkling H2O's, watercolors, or Inktense pencils and create something fun.  See you there!

Here are my projects this week.  I used Inktense pencils to create this puddled, watercolor look on some Mixed Media paper from Strathmore.  I cut the hello from the piece and backed it with black cardstock.  Then,  I decided to make a second card using the watercolor hello that I cut from the background.  Two cards!  Yippee!

Enjoy!

I cut the hello three more times from regular cardstock and glued them together.  Then, I glued the watercolor hello to the top.  It's my new favorite technique.  I love how it makes the die cuts "pop" off the card.

Art Journal Inspiration

I really like the hand script graphics I've been seeing everywhere.  I see it in fabric, paper, art, and home decor.  I keep thinking...I can do that.  So, I grabbed a sumi brush and some india ink (we carry both at the store now) and gave it a try.  I recommend practicing on regular text weight paper.  It's cheaper.  Once I've perfected a word, I then move on  to a Mixed Media paper.

It's fun.  Take a peek at some inspiration on our Script Pinterest Board.  I promise, you'll love what you see.  Then, give it a try!
