Spring Class Schedule and Workshop

 We've been busy working on our Spring class schedule and can't wait to share them all with you.  In the meantime, we wanted to post information regarding the three classes that are complete and ready.  Watch your emails for more updates coming soon.

Spring Workshop
First up, we have our annual Spring Workshop.  We're so excited about the fun projects and cards we're working on for this year's event.  As always, you'll spend all day with us, creating, learning new techniques, and using fun new products.  So, don't delay, give us a  call and sign up now.  We only have 16 spots and will sell out quickly.  All the details can be found on the poster shown below.

Mixed Media Butterfly Canvas
Join us for this fun filled class.  We'll layer paint, tissue and all sorts of fun stuff to create this beautiful, butterfly canvas.  Class details and information can be found HERE.

Introduction to Inktense Pencils

This class is an introduction to Inktense pencils.  I'll show you how to use your pencils to create some beautiful, watercolor effects on your cards.  You'll also use the pencils with stamps, creating sharp, intensely colored images for your cards.  Class details can be found HERE.

What's New Wednesday

I know, it's only Tuesday.  We thought we'd send it out a day early to remind you about "Guy's Night Out".  Download, print and complete your "Big Hint Wish List".  Send your significant other in, Wednesday, December 18th, between 5PM and 8PM, with the list.  We'll make sure they come home with some great gifts.  We'll wrap the gifts, and give them a 10% discount.  Other downtown merchants will also be open late, with special promotions and deals.  So, come downtown and get your shopping done!

REMINDERS

If your husband or significant other is a last minute shopper, please remind him we are closed on Christmas Eve.   We are open until 8PM on Wednesday and Friday this week, making it easy for them to stop by after work and pick up that last minute gift or gift certificate.   We also mail gift certificates.  So, if your out of town family members are looking for the perfect gift, suggest to them a Doodlebugs Gift Certificate.  Give us a call, and we'll do the rest!!

Pretty Little Packages

I love wrapping up gifts with cute little embellishments and pretty ribbon.  We have an assortment of boxes that make it easy for you to create pretty little packages under your tree.  Stop in and take a look at our assortment of ribbon, boxes, and embellishments.

Our kraft boxes look beautiful tied with a ribbon an this cute little gingerbread ornament.

This kraft box is wrapped with a strip of patterned paper, tied with ribbon, and embellished with one of Brenda Walton's die cuts.  This particular die cut also comes with an angel and beautiful bow.

Wrap up your edible treats using these window coffee bags.  Dress them up with twine and festive stickers!

This is my favorite way to give jams and jellies.  Add a cupcake wrapper to the top of the jar, before adding the rim.  You can add twine, ribbon, and embellishments or leave alone.  Either way, they are fun!

Bottle Cap Magnets and Charms

Bottle cap charms and magnets are also great gift ideas and fun to make.

Directions:
1.  Punch a circle from a photo or your favorite paper using a 1" circle punch.
2.  Use Matte-Medium or Glossy Accents to adhere the paper inside the bottle cap.
3.  Place an epoxy circle sticker over the top of the paper.
4.  Add a magnet (or jump ring if you're making a charm)

Altered Votive Holders

Use Matte-Medium and printed tissue or pretty napkins to alter/cover glass votive holders.

Altered Boxes

Use Matte-Medium and decorative paper to cover paper-mache boxes.

Have you seen all the recent crayon art posted on Pinterest and the web?   If not, be sure to visit our Crayon Art Pinterest Board.  We've pinned some fun projects there.

What's New Wednesday

Hand-made Gift Ideas

This week we'll be featuring hand-made gift ideas on our blog.  So check back during the week, or follow us on Facebook, for new ideas throughout the week.

DECORATIVE CANDLES
I love this project.  It was fun, easy, and inexpensive! 

Here's how I created the candles below.  I stamped the image on white tissue paper.  I used my Copic Markers to color the images.  You'll need to put some regular text weight paper under the image while you color.  This will absorb the additional ink and keep the ink from bleeding outside the lines.  Trim the image, removing the excess tissue.  I used my adhesive runner to place a small amount of adhesive in two places to hold the tissue in place on the candle.  I didn't use the wax paper method.  I felt I had better control heating the wax, without the wax paper.  It was easier to see when the wax was melted and helped to avoid over heating the candle.  Use your heat tool, and "gently" melt the wax behind the image until it melts through the tissue.  Be careful not to over heat the wax.  It will drip and "sag".   Once the entire image is transferred, embellish with rhinestones, pearls, and Stickles.  I used Stickles to add some glitter to my candles.

I would recommend using these only for decorative purposes due to the tissue.

CUSTOM CHARMS
This is another quick, easy and super inexpensive project.

We created these custom charms using the Tim Holtz Cash Keys.  Each package includes 10 charms and 10 matching epoxy domes, or  tops for placing over your image.  Here's how to create the charms.  Add the epoxy sticker over the image you want on your charm.  You can use patterned paper, a photo, or your own art.  Then use your scissors to cut around the epoxy dome.  Place a strong liquid glue, (glossy accents or multi-medium will work) inside the charm where the image will sit.  Place the image on top and allow to dry.  It's that easy.
