What's New Wednesday

We've been busy these past  couple weeks ordering lots of new stuff.  Wait until you see all the beautiful Holiday papers due to arrive in August and September.  We've ordered RSVP,  25th & Pine,  and Persimmon from Basic Grey.  Snow Village from Pink Paislee will be arriving in September along with some Heidi Swapp!  Here's a final sneak peek at some of the new American Crafts products.  Stay tuned to our "What's New Wednesday" posts for all the latest arrivals.

Art Journal Inspiration

We've got another page from Emily's art journal this week.  She loves to play with Dyan Reaveley's sprays.  The colors are so vibrant and the ghosting effects you can achieve with a little water are incredible.  Can you tell what this is?

This is a hand print.  Your wet hand will reactivate the color.  Once the water has set for a moment, pick it up with a paper towel roll.  Cool!  Here are both hands.

Project Life Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone!

Are you ready for some Project Life inspiration?  I recently decided to start my own Project Life album.  I have 1000's, really, of photos on my computer and only a few of them in albums.  I'm so busy, and life it so hectic, I just can't ever find the time to sit down and scrapbook.  So, when Becky Higgins decided to release these kits to retail stores, I decided to jump on board.  Once the kits arrived, I grabbed my favorite, the Midnight Edition, and sat down in my craft room.  I can't believe how much I got done in a few hours!  It took me longer to edit my photos  that it did getting them into my book.

There are many ways to approach Project Life.  Liesl participates in a "Photo a Day" challenge and follows along on Instagram.  She then uses those daily photos in her Project Life album. You can find information regarding that challenge here. I have taken a less structured approach.  I simply want to get my photos into albums.  So, my Project Life album is a montage of photos.  Mostly, different events or travels, but sometimes random photos.  I'm tempted to document a day or week in my life as Ali Edwards often does.  When I do, I'll invite you all to play along.  In the meantime, you can find some information for a Day in the Life and a Week in the Life Project on Ali Edward's blog.

 Here's the first page I completed.  These are pictures from a trip my husband and I took to Cannon Beach, OR in 2011.  Love that place!

Here's one of the many 3"x 4" cards that come in the Midnight Edition of Project Life.  I added a little wood veneer heart from Studio Calico.

I used another 3" x 4" card with the phrase "the good life" and dressed it up with some enamel dots from Basic Grey.  The transparency banner is from Basic Grey's Knee Highs and Bow Ties.

The transparency and mustache above are also from Basic Grey's Knee High and Bow Ties collection.  I used some black archival ink to color the wood veneer mustache.

I've  been playing with my Copic markers and some of the new Stamping Bella stamps.  This one here is Opal the Optimist.

I used the following Copic markers:  Y02, Y05, Y08, RV04, RV06, R35, R37, R39, E41, E43, and E47.  Have fun!

Stamping Bella- Uptown Girl Audrey

We've had this stamp in the store for some time.  I finally took her home!  I love the image and the sentiment that comes in this set.

It's hard to see in the image, but I added some red Stickles, from Ranger Ink, to her bow and the hem of her dress.

For those of you interested, here are the Copic colors I used:  (accessories) R24, R27, (hair) R29, E41, E43, E47, (dress) W3, W5, W7, (skin) E00, E11, and E21.

Project Life Thursday

We have a fun post from Liesl this week from her Project Life album. 

I love the photo prompts for this week and her photo choices for those prompts.  I especially love her image for "tool".  Yep, that's a Big Shot machine!!

Her favorite view looks like a drive over the Hood Canal Bridge.  It sure is beautiful on a bright, sunny day.

I wanted to share a new card we have displayed at the store.  This was created using the Sweet Roses stamp set and coordinating dies from MFT Stamps.  This is such a great set.  If you don't have it, stop in and get it.  We've got plenty in stock.

What's New Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Here's a peek at some new products and fun things happening at Doodlebugs this week.
